You Deserve a DonotMay 1, 2016
The 10 Commandments are a vital piece of teaching for our faith and society. You’ve seen them hanging in Sunday School classrooms, you’ve heard the debates as to whether or not they should be posted in public places, and maybe you’ve even memorized them. The truth of the matter is, we can’t escape what God desires to communicate with us through these meaningful laws. You remember them: 1. Do not have other gods besides Me. 2. Do not make an idol for yourself. 3. Do not misuse the name of the Lord your God. 4. Remember the Sabbath day. 5. Honor your father and your mother. 6. Do not murder. 7. Do not commit adultery. 8. Do not steal. 9. Do not lie (give false testimony against your neighbor). 10. Do not covet. During the month of May, we’ll be taking up these 10 items from God’s Holy Word. We’ll look at two each time we gather for worship (which works well with May having five Sundays!). This will be a fascinating study as we focus on a portion of our faith that is so historically and practically important.
